I've been proposing promoting private covenant communities for pious religious people since, oh, about 1981 as libertarian outreach. "Libertarians" either do not respond or engage or they just start calling names. No dope or dopers, no rock n roll, no gays. Whatever they want. Just because I think it should be promoted does not mean I'd want to live there.
The NSArwarkians/Fakertarians are enthusiastic Christian/family values haters. That's why they hate Tom Woods and Dave Smith. And they really do HATE.
Good points Pete. Atheism has a religious-type fervor to it and frankly it's also not practical to think we can make a dent without the Christians (or other religious types) in tow. Most of the serious converts to libertarianism come from the right, so meet them halfway at least.
Huge fan of Ayn Rand by the way yet her anti-religious stand in her books were a turn off even for someone who's agnostic like myself. She put religion almost as high as the state for being culpable.
Perhaps there is a deep seeded desire to remain on the sidelines (that means not important) so they can stay “rationally” pure in the cries against their masters?
There's plenty of Christians in the libertarian camp. I was actually shocked at the numbers during my recent visit to Porcfest this year. BUT I did notice none of them did not announce it or wear religious type shirts or jewelry (you'd expect at least a few), which possibly could show they're scared of a potential shaming or weird sideye. The ones that were religious said it in conversation instead.

HATE is all they have at this point. It's the only thing keeping them going.
They also HATE private communities.

I love you!
