I’ve got a newborn and a toddler... if I can get away long enough to clean up the recent storm debris from the lawn I will have joy enough to last me months! 😀
If I can also get in a fence repair I will be on cloud 9!
I got a garage sale wood chipper for my birthday—look out limbs!
It's county fair season in the mid-west! We're headed over to watch a small town parade and get an ice cream cone at the neighbor's new shop.
I want to throw another white pill at you! We had a storm come through last weekend and make a mess of some trees around town, it's been a full week of everyone helping everyone else cut up, clean up, and haul away. Small town life for the win!!!
This. I went and visited and old friend that is dying from brain cancer + the equally awful chemotherapy & radiation program. Seek out your old friends sooner rather than later.
This friend of mine has been clean & sober for 30 years and now he can barely speak, hold a thought longer than a minute or even stay awake. We smoked week together and and listened to music for a while and he had a slight smile on his face. I don’t feel ANY guilt about “breaking his sobriety” either.
Thanks Pete. I didn’t make nearly enough effort to stay in touch with him and so many other people over the years and unfortunately I’m coming in at the very end. I think many of us are guilty of this in the digital age of apathy & cynicism.
Lord almighty, Pete! You are about the only guy (a good guy) on this freaking internet that gives me any hope. Thank you sir. I am taking your suggestion. p.s. the 'round-table' you had on Saltzman (Race War in Highschool) was fantastic
Well, I didn't do any getting out or getting stuff done, but I spent all weekend hanging out with my son and that was pretty great. The older he gets the more keenly aware I am of how soon he will be busy getting a foot in the door in his adult life.
A little unsolicited advice to anyone who has little ones: don't ever let getting stuff done get in the way of spending all the time you can with them while you have the chance. Stuff will still be around to get done when they're busy with their own lives, but they won't always be around when there's no stuff to get done. That window closes faster than you think!

That's awesome. Everyone in a small town are truly in it together.

Incredibly sad. I pray he had some joy in seeing you.

I agree that round table was really good.
