We're going to have a major crisis. Right now civil war and world war are in a race to see who gets to the finish line first. Selfishly, I know that world war is better for the homefront.
I'm worried that we all opened our eyes too late. Not that we could have prevented the crisis, but we would have been in a better position to influence a post crisis world order.
Thanks to the trump insanity, i fear that we're destined for a Blue Caesar.
I don't think it was really possible for people like us to have changed the course of things in the first place. The grand progressive arc got going in the late 19th century and had its roots in the colonial era. It is just now playing out its end, and that could take the better part of the next century. We'd need a time machine to change that.
What we're trying to do here is cathedral building; we're not going to live to see the result. These dramas do not work themselves out in human lifetimes. The task at hand is to draw up the blueprints, and hope our kids or grandkids get to be the ones to break ground.
In 2020 and especially 2021 and early 2022, I also thought (and feared) that a switch from soft to hard managerialism would be implemented. In the end, it didn´t materialize. To this day I am not sure why that was the case. Did they run the numbers and come up with an undesirable outcome? Did they not find it in themselves to take this step after all? I really don´t know. Yet it appears pretty clear to me that the odds for such a move are now a lot worse than they were back then.

Thank you, Pete. I needed these words this morning. God bless you and your wife.
