Why Does Your 'Family' Hate You?
"I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member" - Groucho Marx
When I think about that Groucho quote I wonder if he was a libertarian.
Many in the Libertarian Party (LP) can’t comprehend what Dave Smith is doing in regard to his massive recruiting drive. Yet, among those that do understand, there exists a group that is infuriated even more than those who are clueless. And this group is poisoning the clueless minds with propaganda that intelligent people should easily identify. Let’s look at the strategy and then the two groups.
Dave, Scott Horton, Michael Heise and anyone else on board with “the plan” understand that libertarians en masse have been driven away from the LP. Whether this was the work of nefarious actors or just organic as the culture shifts Left doesn’t really matter. The fact is that the majority of people who identify with the libertarian ideology want fuck-all to do with the party. And what is their main complaint? That the messaging is not libertarian. So, how would one seek to make the message more in line with classic libertarian thought? Put people into positions of power who can change the current party messaging and actions. That is done by recruiting people into the party who share that goal. But those who currently hold positions of power and influence, especially in a small pond where they feel exalted by their group, will not relinquish power easily. Hence the recent “smears” of those trying to return to classic libertarian ideology.
The group I mentioned who has no comprehension of what is currently happening is being lied to by the second group (those unwilling to relinquish power). The narrative this second group is weaving is that “the plan” is to get a bunch of people who are antithetical to libertarian ideology to join the party. They invoke guests that Dave has had on his podcast over the years (some who I have hosted as well) as proof. This is actually no proof at all as those guests overwhelmingly view libertarian ideology as their enemy. There is a zero percent chance any of the “no-no people” these bad actors are invoking will ever join the LP.
As I see it, this small group currently in “power,” within a party that has no power to speak of at the moment, is afraid they are losing their status. And I couldn’t give two fucks for any of them. Their attempts at slandering people and tarnishing their reputations makes them my enemy. Yet, should they repent, I may accept their contrition but will definitely be keeping an eye on them.
When you examine this whole situation the most important question you should want answered is, “Why do libertarians hate the LP?” I have written quite often on this topic and hope I have provided some clarity but today wanted you to see exactly what the plan is to change the messaging of the party. I’ll leave you with another question, “Why is the current leadership of the party afraid of the party being expanded in number with people already amenable to libertarian thought?” Might they not be “real libertarians?” I think I’ll text my Scottish friend now.
I could only manage to listen to about 25 minutes of this "debate" with Dave Smith where Archie Flower insists that racist thoughts ARE, in fact, real violence.

It finally dawned on my yesterday that the entire Fakertarian cohort firmly believes this. This explains the endless hostile replies to my suggestions that we attempt to get racists and homophobes to adopt the NAP which would allow the Wokesters to live in peace. The reply is always that such people are, by definition, statists who believe in aggressive violence. This would include anyone who might take a dim view of the "gay rights community" or the problems of trans people. Even talking to such people is an existential crime. They seem to really believe this. They are dumber than a box of bricks.
This attitude totally destroys libertarianism in practice which is based upon the differentiation between the real problem of human beings, aggressive violence, as opposed to dislike or disgust with the lifestyles, race and ethnicity of others. One may still be disgusted with other people but allow them to live in peace and be a good libertarian. Such an attitude is forbidden in the Fakertarian worldview which implies that libertarianism will not and cannot work because it allows "bigots" to live in peace. (And we all "know" that bigots are, by definition, perpetrators of endless aggressive violence.) Sigh. We're doomed.
When Dave is finished it will not matter what a "True Scotsman" is and I think that's the point.
