Most people know that I came to the ideas of liberty with the Ron Paul “Revolution” in 2007. I did the proverbial study of the basics of libertarian theory and even moved beyond the remedial. A lot of people don’t know that from 2010 to 2016 I didn’t read anything related at all. I was working on myself and exploring some Eastern religions. I only got active again after I saw the absurdity of the 2016 primaries and thought it could lead to disaster. I couldn’t predict the last 8-months but very few did.
Getting active again (posting memes, starting the podcast) meant I needed to do a refresher course on the basics and beyond. I believe that was reflected in my memes and early episodes of my podcast. I fed on and served, “milk, not solid food.” Well, those days have been past for a while now.
I honestly have no plans to do episodes about libertarian theory or anything related. It’s obviously going to come up in the context of certain discussions depending upon the guest but I believe there are enough podcasts out there focusing on that and honestly, it’s just time to move on. And it doesn’t interest me at this point.
If you saw the attack I received on Twitter over having Yarvin on that may be my future as I want to have people on with differing views, although Curtis and I aren’t too far apart. He helped me to really see the nature of the State, beyond what any libertarian thought leaders are talking about or may be willing to. And as Aaron from Friends Against Government talks about, maybe taking on the task of radicalizing groups against each other may be more beneficial than we’re willing to admit.
I noticed that the conversations Bird and I have been having about philosophy aren’t downloaded as much as other episodes and that’s understandable. We’ve been looking at postmodernism and libertarianism, mostly thanks to a latching onto the distorted teachings of Peterson and Hicks, has decided it’s the latest villain to blame for all of society’s woes. We’re starting to look at more radical thinkers from the Right so maybe that will peak people’s interest more.
As I posted on Twitter, Aaron and I will be interviewing an ANCOM a lot of people may recognize if I mentioned their name but it’s a secret for now. I’m sure the Left phony anarchists and libertarians will have no issue with that as I assume they secretly are commies. They certainly act like them.
I just wanted to thank you all for coming along for the ride. I feel like it’s just started. There may even be some new theme music for the show (the ANCOM episode will have special music just for that subject matter). I’m going to make every effort to make any content I release something that many of you will benefit from, and most importantly, not bore you. Peace!
I thought AnCap was the end of my default lefty-->questioning-->basic bitch republican--> generic conservative--> Minarchist--> AnCap progression. There could be none more enlightened about the nature of the State.
But there's more, SO so much more. I don't know what I am now, but labels be damned anyway. I blame you personally for my current state. :)
Hey Pete, two cents.
It's probably the case that the episodes with Bird have lower numbers because they're simply more exclusive and more difficult to engage with.
I haven't personally read much postmodern philosophy myself, the closest I can come is someone like Nietzsche, so going in cold is rough going, but it gets easier. It takes a few listens through to start to get something more like a clear picture.
That being said, I think that we should welcome the challenge. Shit is getting really weird and really sketchy really fast, so if we have to go to some weird and difficult places to find new tools that might help us survive, I'm all about it. Always down for a mindblow or two.
Also, Bird just seems like a really cool dude.
