I ask myself what makes so many people to give this much blind trust?
A family member told me.... "you need to trust to survive" ... Do you really?? Or it is just a wishful, self deception?
If we go back to nazi Germany (pre concentration camps) many folks really trusted the governament and the neighbors around them, but things got worse and worse until it was too late.
Last year I listened to Liliana Segre, an Italian holocaust survivor. She spoke to a graduation class of 2020 in Milan where she told graduating high school students her story as a young teenager deported to Auschwitz ..... Perhaps mrs Segre represented then a large portion of the population that beilived in "trust". It took mrs Segre days to understand that she was in a detention camp. She was in such denial that her and her deported companions though they had been taken to a mental hospital.
So now we go back to that word....trust. What makes people trust others and expecially their governament?
I agree 100% with what you wrote Peter.
