With the introduction of an executive order mandating COVID 19 vaccinations for all federal employees, contractors and ANY business with 100 or more employees, forces within the government of the United States have essentially declared war on the lives and flourishing of its citizens.
One other, too optimistic explanation: the elites are degenerate, the state is not a monolith and is decreasingly competent. Some factions are pushing for some kind of great reset but they don't necessarily have a good plan to handle significant push back and/or balkanization. They are bumbling ahead and winning on momentum for now.

I know my fiancee and I plan on leaving California and moving to South Dakota. Where it seems to be a lot more sane.
