You can’t separate theory from action, but action can certainly be separated from theory. In my opinion, if your theory prevents you from confronting tyrannical regimes, especially through political means, your theory is garbage. And if what you call the basis of your theory, the Non-Aggression Principle in this case, restricts you from doing anything other than waiting for aggression to be directed at you, you’ve already lost. What I want to do here is address this last point from a potential hot, civil war standpoint.
Many libertarians/anarchists/agorists on podcasts, social media and in their writings continuously and emphatically state they’re not pacifists, they will act immediately when the gun is pointed at them. While I call bullshit, I’ll take them at their word and run with it. OK then, what does this action look like? Are you talking about a Ruby Ridge type standoff? Because if that’s your scenario, you’re dead. What about a true, hot civil war?
I’ve always had it in the back of my mind that there could be another hot war between the states, but it wasn’t until COVID; The Summer of Love; the persecution of the January 6th tourists; and now 87,000 new, armed IRS agents, combined with the raid on Trump’s home, that I can clearly see the chances of a return to 1861.
If you are not all talk, but someone who is willing to fight for their home and family, my question is, what side will you be on? On one side are the people who “just want to be left alone.” On the other is the regime and their Leftist apparatchiks. And there is a bold line drawn between these two sides. I am well aware there are people reading this who believe they are “above” it all. You won’t choose sides because you’re “individuals” and the ever growing tyranny means nothing to you as long as you have your precious principles. Lovely for you. But for those of you who still care about loved ones and neighbors, who are your allies?
As far as I’m concerned, those who go to church, believe in family and still hold onto the myth of American excellence are the ones you want to be elbow-to-elbow with should the unfortunate conflict occur. If you agree, that raises what I consider to be a good question: why aren’t you allying with them now? If you would be willing to fight side-by-side with them in an armed battle, why aren’t you willing to ally with them politically now? One can argue that a future hot war would be a dire situation, to which I’d ask: aren’t we currently in a dire situation? Politics is war by other means and the politics of the day lead thinking people to believe if something political is not done now, we’re going to have to shoot our way out in the future. So swallow your pride and choose a side. If you don’t… the inevitable consequences to you and yours are all on you.
They’re not principled, they’re the enemy. I hate that this is true, but it is. What else is there to call someone who would stand on the sideline while their allies are being mowed down and the world burns around them laughing and repeating, “I told you so,” like some goddamned highbrow mantra?
In Aesop’s war of the Birds of the Air and the Beasts of the Ground the libertarian is the bat.
This current scenario is the “issue coalition” of a lifetime, regarding the proverbial “freedom in our lifetime” trope. They don’t really want it. I’ll go a step further and bring your attention to something you’ve pointed at in the past; The liberty movement, and the party, are openly atheistic. This is undoubtedly a major contributing factor in the refusal to align with the Right. Those degenerate leftist parasites they just rid themselves of... it turns out they fear their scorn, more the state kicking in doors.
Mainline Republicans are openly and consistently talking about eliminating the FBI, ATF, IRS, currency manipulation, auditing the Fed, ending the wars, abandoning the schools, and literally using the word decentralization on Fox fucking news. In short; the Ron Paul agenda. Yet, the new Ron Paul movement 2.whatevs won’t touch it with a ten foot pole. They’re ridiculous.
