I'm not here to debate you. And I think most of 2,200+ of you following this Substack are as frustrated with that bullshit as I am. Most people want to debate terminology which leads back to them using their political ideology as an identity. I’ve been talking publicly about abandoning the term “libertarian” as an identity since August of 2020. Here’s an episode where Jeff Deist and I discuss it. I still believe there are concepts within libertarian thought that are essential for human flourishing, but, if you have a weak, powerless “fully-fleshed out” ideology based upon morality, that did nothing to prevent the lockdowns, did nothing to prevent the 2008 meltdown, did nothing to prevent the inflation we have now and does nothing to prevent child grooming, then what do you have? “But Pete, we don’t have the power to change those things.” You fucking think power is immoral so how the fuck do you plan on changing any of it?! The only thing you have is “I told you so.” Great.
All I care about now is action/praxis. “But Pete, what are you doing, podcasting? HAHAHAHAHA?” Really, just shut the fuck up. First off, the things I’m doing in my personal life are private so, fuck you. Second, if you listen to my show, you know I’m part of the team helping to run Buck Johnson for city council in Lockhart, Texas. Which will be the first of many. I have spoken with the leadership of the Mises Caucus and they have similar plans. I applaud them for this and offer my help in any way. All of that considered, what I and others are doing is a hell of a lot more than arguing theory on Twitter, Facebook or your YouTube channel that hasn’t had a new video posted to it in weeks or even months. I don’t care and I especially am not interested in bringing any attention to you. Attention is all you crave when you have no plan for real change, or even understand realpolitik enough to know that what you are doing will never work in reality. But reality isn’t your strong suit, is it?
To my friends: build what you need personally to get through what’s already here, and what’s coming. I encourage teaming up with like-minded people but realize many people are still stuck in individualism. I beg you to remove “individualism” and “collectivism” from your vocabulary. They’re traps. Build a support network. If you are inclined to do political action locally, again, seek out those of like-mind. You may not want to run for something but you may be able to contribute in other ways. Even if it’s only financially. Most of all, get out of thinking about theory and “being right” all the time. The majority of successful people failed many times before they succeeded. Choosing between being right in Fantasyland, and making a difference in the real world, should be no choice at all. You are surrounded by an overwhelming majority of “talkers.” Go be a doer!
Got my first unsubscribe over this one. That was to be expected.
The left has successfully captured every important societal institution and we’re now living the results of that. The only way forward is to recapture those institutions and block the left from ever inhabiting them again. A strategy of disengagement, individualism and hope for societal collapse will only give these animals more power. They have to be engaged and have their power destroyed. The institutions that undergird society are even more necessary if we hope to achieve if we hope to defeat the state.
