When you take into consideration everything that is happening in the world right now: wars, rumors of wars, rising prices, increased apathy, and literal bridges falling down, I don’t know how to interpret people’s reactions to an eclipse.
I think what makes it worse are the conspiracy theories claiming this is part of some black swan event- I suppose we’ll find out but more likely it’s much ado about nothing. In reality I think the hype surrounding the eclipse is just more proof that our society is chockfull of morons. Doesn’t anyone have work to go to today?
I traveled to Syracuse. Already not working; got together for church services yesterday, a big gathering with a couple parishes for one service last night. Stayed at a local orthodox camp and I’ll have another “men’s retreat” tomorrow. It was nice getting together with other folks. This isn’t something I would have done 4-5 years ago.
I would have loved, and been obsessed with the eclipse if I were a teenager again, but it being cloudy and missing it didn’t get me upset. I enjoyed the time with the kids there and that’s enough for me.
Well said, Pete. And, it's not like the eclipse is some forty to fifty minute event where one can marvel and go "oohh and aahh" like at a fireworks display on the 4th of July. It's a very quick one n' done. I say go to the lake today or the river and spend some time with the more natural nature.
Pete, totally off topic, but I wonder how (or if?) your views have shifted re: policing in the US since 2020 with your documentary “The Monopoly On Violence” in mind.
You mean like when “the cops” let certain people run around with impunity while attacking people and destroying property because they’re pathetic cunt hair state employees whilst flexing their muscle to arrest small business owners during illegal lockdowns? Yeah, fuck those assholes. Just checking your temperature.

I’d argue that the additional 1 trillion in debt every 100 days + the demographic invasion is a Continuous Black Swan, but what do I know….
No, no, no! It’s the eclipse bro. lol
You aren’t rapture eclipse pilled Pete? Sad.
I feel personally attacked. 😉
I love you, bro!

No. I still think they're absolute dogshit but for different reasons.
