I can’t believe (actually, yes I can) that 1-6-2021 will forever be considered “a day that will live in infamy” by a large portion of the population. Yet, here we are. I commented to someone that this “insurrection” was so toothless that at any time, in my house, there are more guns out of the safe and lying around than were brought to the Capitol in toto by the so-called “insurrectionists.” In a country that - allegedly - has 400,000,000 privately owned firearms, you would think that three or four would’ve made it to the “insurrection.” Maybe these “treasonous bastards” knew of DC’s draconian gun laws and didn’t want to risk breaking them while they were “doing insurrection.” “But muh pipe bombs and zip ties!” Please forgive me if I don’t believe sources that have lied the US into every “terror war” and are responsible for millions more deaths than one tax-feeder at the Capitol.
To bring up double-standards at this point is tiresome, and honestly, has no effect on those who have their minds made up for them. But I must. Few if any of the people outraged over the “Renaissance Fair Insurrection” gave a shit when private businesses and homes were being burned and destroyed in 2020. When an African-American retired police officer was murdered by “protesters” protecting a friend’s store, there was silence from the same intelligentsia “mourning” an officer at the Capitol that on any other day they would have scoffed at if he told them to put away a cell phone or some other mundane activity it was his job to enforce. The intelligentsia still have nothing to say about the continuing chaos in Portland Oregon, or the current mayhem in Tacoma Washington.
And don’t think I’m leaving the Right out of this. When the riots/protests were happening last summer, “Cathedral” operative Chris Cuomo asked on his CNN show where it said that protesting had to be peaceful. The Right was quick to point out that it is clearly stated in the 1st Amendment. A hilarious YouTuber even had a video that went viral pointing this out. Yet, when it’s the Right who gets called out for protesting and doing damage - which did occur at the Capitol despite protesters apparently being freely allowed into the building - now it’s about their rights. Mind you, if people are going to break shit, at least direct it at the oppressors. I cried no tears for police department buildings being torched last summer. I certainly shed none for what happened on the worst day in a Progressive’s life (1-6-2021).
In my opinion, the gauge for how free a society is under government rule is whether or not dissident speech is suppressed, and public protest is allowed. The fact that the Founders inserted the term “peaceful assembly” into the 1st Amendment after fighting a bloody war to overthrow what they deemed a tyrannical power signals to me they had totalitarian impulses. With talk of “crack downs” on those publicly stating the election was stolen or that Trump is the rightful president, or even people who bought into the QAnonsense, lets me know that our society has grown less free and that the impulse towards suppression of dissident speech is ever-growing. After last year’s campaign against doctors who didn’t tow the mainstream “COVID-line,” and any content creators questioning the CV19 narrative, you would’ve thought people would start asking questions. But, no, they haven’t. After what we’ve seen with the complete clampdown on anyone questioning whether there was fraud in the 2020 election, especially after four years of allegations of the same in the 2016 election, it may be wise to ask one self whether the words coming out of your own mouth will put you in the cross-hairs of the State. And if they do…
If they do, there will be others who are caught in an ever increasing dragnet. Much like the wars they fight overseas, for every "domestic terrorist" destroyed, they will likely harm 10x "terrorist adjacents" in the process. Martyrs will happen, it is a consequence of their power preservation. The masses are pissed, and they should be, we have been taken for a hell of a ride. Those in power figured out how to use our own minds against us, but, I contend quite strongly, they have overplayed their hand. They have less power than they think, their conclusions are less rational than they think, and it doesn't take advance degrees to understand the gross abuses of power at the behest of a large chunk of the public. The signal exists, and it can't be turned off. Unfortunately that signal is on the back of the zombification machine, so there will be more drones than ever trying to get the "adda boys", followed by promotions and material wealth (fueled by the illusion of a guaranteed salary and debt), and ultimate defenders of the status quo, the source of their livelihood. Worse, the people convinced "they are making the world a better place" think utilitarian well before they think of natural rights as a decision making to their governance. But their ranks are shrinking, not growing compared to their opposition. The zombies they create are hopelessly dependent on the systems in place, which are cracking quicker and quicker. More people each day are fed up with the constant assault of bullshit propaganda coming from the top. The economic destruction they create opens up more to a new perspective, finally free (albeit not of their choice) of the systems. But the impoverished lower and middle classes will latch on to whatever they believe reduce the suffering, especially for their children, and will be more than ready to sacrifice. Unfortunately, I am not sure there is a cohesive opposition to all of this (yet). An alliance of gen-X philosophers, hackers, punk-rock culture, and special operations combat vets appears to be forming that has enough armor to push back on the onslaught from the elites into our lives, but I think it is too early to tell. They make this group public enemies at their peril. 1) They are not enemies of the public, but their champions. 2) Many have been in the belly of the beast and know how it works, where it is vulnerable, and how to exploit it. 3) They are not the idiots who directly attack the state with violence or worse destroy their fellow citizens livelihood when they are active. I am no fan of this brewing cold civil war, but not as much as I hate power over reach. I guess we will have to see what happens next. They have kicked the hornets nest.
