I've found the Trump presidency useful when conversing with normie conservative friends in showing that we are ruled by faceless, nameless bureaucrats. It's an opening, whatever one may think of Trump.

Speaking as you were last week of bridge building and finding common things upon which to work, I would be interested to hear you speak with Rod Dreher of the American Conservative or some of the NatCons. I think he’s one of the best, if not the best, of the NatCons. The best thing about the NatCons, possibly the only good thing, is their recognition that the Left is the problem and is the most destructive influence on society ever to exist. Dreher’s book Live Not by Lies and his discussion of dissidents under Soviet rule does a great job of showing how to fight back.

I hear more lately from average people, "the left are communists. The right are unaware socialists." Those are both leftist ideologies. Left and right are almost false dichotomies. Trump is a liberal democrat from New York. He set a bunch of mobsters free as his final act and participated in a rally which ended up criminalizing the right, whatever may have been left of them as "terrorists." He fell in line with Covid to give power entirely to a medical dictatorship. He started out giving gigs to the banking cartel and trying in futility to rebrand a lackluster war in Syria which no one went for. There is no right happening. As long as the right's first priority is the police and military who are aimed at them to oppress them and take their guns by force, there really is no right. They are just left light. The left has tugged the rope so hard, the right is standing in the middle of left town and the left are in a new plane of reality.
