I agree. Even if our subversive enemies were extinct, pretending as if the diseases they used (e.g. liberal ideas, rule by merchants) or our own spiritual weakness should be tolerated will all but guarantee that some new birth of demons will almost instantly walk their way in to power.
Don't get me wrong, that hypothetical would be an improvement regardless, but in reality our enemies won't all simply disappear at once so we can't skip over becoming hostile to the things which enable them either way.
