Who are your friends and allies, and who are your enemies? The first part is not the easiest question to answer. I have taken to splitting my list into those who want me dead and those who do not. I consider anyone who wants to see me force injected with an experimental drug as someone who wants me dead, so enemy category. Those who believe I have a mental disorder that needs to be addressed because I don’t agree with their delusions and worldview, which somehow make me immoral in their eyes, are put in the enemy category as well. Most people can tell you who their friends are rather easily. Allies are a bit more difficult because they may be people you break off from once your common enemy is defeated. So, what does an ally look like besides someone who doesn’t want you dead?
I don’t mean to derail this post, though I think it’s tangentially related. Your tweet ‘Love your tribe’ made me realise I wasn’t really sure who my tribe is. I sensed there was a little trolling / double entendre there but I took the tweet at face value and I’ve been thinking a lot about who exactly is my tribe. I’ve gotten a lot of positives from thinking about it.
I really appreciate and enjoy your work Pete. You always seem to put something out that’s relevant to what I’m dealing with. Thanks man.
Agreed. There are many on the left and in the middle of whom I’ve been dismissive but who I can recognize don’t want people like us dead at least. If there’s any hope of a peaceful divorce type solution, these are the types of middle and left that will be needed.
The most obvious ally is the America First movement. Big time political energy, almost entirely devoid of intellectual horsepower and any true political strategy. They are mad as hell, and ready to play hardball against the enemy. They want blood (metaphorically) and that’s the energy necessary to drive the degenerate left back into their obscure cave where they belong. In the end, Rogan/Greenwald don’t have the political will to do what is necessary. Can they help us corner the enemy? Undoubtedly. But they won’t help us kill it off for good.
I used to say “same team ‘til roads,” because libertarians hate roads. Still applies. If we share the same reality we can play nice until our metaphorical common enemy is proverbially 6ft under the euphemistic ground, hypothetically.
