A good reminder. Being awake to the reality of the horrors of the sociopolitical situation is an important thing, but it's easy to get so focused on the rage and despair they illicit (by design) that we can forget that we still have our own actual, temporal and resource limited lives to lead. We can't ONLY be anti evil, authoritarian, etc., we MUST also be pro happiness, freedom, etc.. The State, in all it's forms and machinations LOVES our fear and hatred, it can absorb as much as we can generate, and it thrives on it like a supernatural movie villain. We can't ignore it, because it can still destroy us, but, ultimately, we have to turn away from it as individuals, gain skills, create communities, become prosperous, and let the beast wither and die under it's own oppressive weight. If we only train for battle, we're only going to be good for fighting and what sort of world would we then create if, by some miracle, we happened to "win"?

I always try to focus on my goals, on what’s next. It seems to help me stay ahead of the curve.
