It’s no secret that I am not a fan of the modern state of Israel. Their founding ideology, Zionism, is one of radical supremacy, which holds the belief that their people are superior to all others, as well as being the chosen people of God. Which is ironic because very few of the residents identify as religious. Based on polls conducted between 2009 and 2019, only 20% of respondents voted as being orthodox and practicing, while the remaining 80% vaguely identified as “something.”
If Israel were an insular country that kept to itself and its region, I wouldn’t care what they do any more than I do most tiny nations. But Israel is not isolationist, and its founding was accomplished by people from around the world who still have strong cultural and financial ties to those countries. In fact, their government, as well as individuals with great influence, means, and the aforementioned ties to several countries, lobby for privileges in those countries, especially in the United States, where many of Israel’s citizens are from. Even though he was born in Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went to school at Cheltenham High School in a suburb of Philadelphia and received his Masters degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
I could run down the list of Israeli lobby groups that dominate the United States, including AIPAC and many others listed here (along with the amount of money they contribute to American politicians), but I do not believe this is new information. Many people know that Israel has an inordinate influence on American politics, including being responsible for lobbying the US into the terror wars, beginning with the first Iraq war in 1991. Brilliant foreign policy analyst Scott Horton proves this with names, dates, and motivations here (people of Jewish lineage can be shown to be responsible for lobbying the US into World War I and II, but this is specifically about the Israeli state).
I began this piece by stating that I am not a fan of Israel, especially Zionism. I know many who are reading this aren’t as well. I want to see Israel weakened. I want to see them as a shell of their former selves. As I wrote a couple weeks ago, I recognize war as man’s default, not an anomaly. When I see someone taking the fight to my enemy, I am very interested. When the Soviet Union was getting its ass handed to them in Afghanistan in the 80s, Americans knew who their enemy was. They may not have known anything about Afghans, but they certainly didn’t demean them if they were intelligent. Why would you do so when your enemy made such a tremendous blunder?
Because of the Zionist sway over so much of American politics and its influence in our media outlets, when their enemies take the fight to them, even people who see Israel as a threat to American stability turn into Zionist cheerleaders overnight. There is no evidence of Israeli babies being slaughtered and various other reported atrocities, other than the reporting by the same outlets who told you babies were being taken out of incubators in Kuwait, Saddam had WMDs, and that Assad was gassing his own people. I would venture that the number of people reading this who have first- or even second-hand knowledge of what is going on in Palestine right now can be counted on one hand.
The title above mentions the “Neo-Con argument,” which is a very simple concept: if you aren’t on Israel’s side in this, you’re “with the terrorists.” I know a lot of you are old enough to remember that classic. “Oh Pete, you’re not rooting for Israel; why don’t you go fight for Hamas?” How about you go fuck yourself, you little bitch? Especially if you are anti-Zionist. I don’t know how many people I’ve seen on social media who only three weeks ago were lamenting Zionist influence and control turn on a dime because they had a 9/11 flashback or some other emotional reaction to “terrorism.” Others may have been people who made the argument in the past that terrorism is “blowback” for occupation and bombings. Well, this would be a textbook case of “blowback.” But some of you just keep believing what you’re seeing in the news or random videos, which are then debunked in real time.
This is actually good. Every once in a while, we need an event to expose how those we believe to be on our side really feel. They were just paying lip service to the cause of getting Zionist influence out of our politics. But it appears emotions capture even those who decry them in others. Knowing who is ride-or-die is essential. If you checked out on this one, I’m sorry, but that sends a very clear message.
Scratch the surface of a typical “republican” or “conservative” and a regime automaton will reveal itself. We saw some of this when Russia/Ukraine kicked off, but it’s been made abundantly clear over the past two weeks. Take a gander at the comment sections at Breitbart and other “Right Wing” outlets and you’ll realize how deep the rot goes.
Moreover, these same muppets that have decried the neo-liberal assault on free speech are super-duper on board with curtailing free speech and “cancelling” those that are not marching in lockstep with Israeli policy.
Sadly, it’s quite clear that the nascent “dissident right” movement is quite small in the grand scheme. Sigh.
I've been encouraged by how many right-ish people I follow did not jump on the "with us or with the terrorists" train at the first cry of dead babies. Feels like maybe I'm making some good choices about who to listen to.
Plenty of boomercons in the comments section of course.
