You don’t have to be a political junkie to know that Illinois, and especially Chicago politics, is not only corrupt, but it’s actually a job requirement of anyone seeking office. As of 2013, four of the previous seven Illinois governors had gone to prison after they left office, three of them due to crimes while in office. Yes, that’s a pattern.
Chicago mayors are a class unto themselves. It started before William Hale Thompson but he is the north star when speaking of corrupt Chicago mayors. Now there’s Lori Lightfoot. Concentrating on her appearance is too easy so let’s jump straight to her character, or lack thereof. Early in the “pandemic” she faced criticism for basically emptying the jails, refusing to inform law enforcement of any potentially violent criminals. Did that lead to a 220% rise in downtown Chicago shootings? I bet some have called the Sun Times “fake news” because of this.
Lori’s latest escapades involve, of course, rising crime in the city. When luxury car dealer Joe Perillo had a smash and grab at one of his dealerships in which thieves made off with more than a million dollars' worth of watches, Perillo spoke to CBS2 News:
After two men smashed a display case in Joe Perillo’s Gold Coast Exotic Motor Cars showroom and escaped with over $1 million in luxury watches on December 11, the well-known car dealer appeared on local and national TV news programs, demanding that the city and county take immediate steps to curb crime.
“It’s only a fool who keeps doing things the same way and expects different results. If the Mayor and Kim Foxx (Chicago’s District Attorney) don’t do anything to get control of this, it’s not going to get better. It’s going to get worse,”
How did Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot respond?
Perillo got Lightfoot’s attention.
Days after the smash-and-grab, Lightfoot walked in to Perillo’s showroom at 834 North Rush Street, where Rolls-Royce, Lamborghini, and Bentley models are on display. She wasn’t there to buy.
Instead, she met with Perillo and, according to two sources familiar with the conversation, it did not go well. One said that the famously abrasive mayor “got into a fight and walked out.”
The second source confirmed the conversation soured and said Lightfoot called Perillo an “idiot” as she headed for the door.
But c’mon, he has insurance, right? Isn’t that the refrain of every Leftist psychopath who made excuses for the over 30 murders in American streets in 2020? Of course, you have to murder people in the streets because some career criminal, which none of the murderers knew personally, was killed by a cop. That’s just logic!
Considering you’re dealing with the mayor of a town more famous for its corruption than its second-tier pizza, one can imagine what happened next:
A day or two after Lightfoot walked out, Perillo’s dealership received another visitor from the city: an inspector from the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP). She brought her ticket book.
Lightfoot’s spokesperson said the inspector was following up on an anonymous complaint that the city received on December 15 about a public health violation at the dealership.
“It was unrelated to the mayor’s meeting with Mr. Perillo,” the spokesperson said.
In fact, CWBChicago has learned, the city inspector slapped Perillo’s dealership with four tickets for six violations during her visit shortly after 2 p.m. on December 17. Only one ticket and two of the alleged violations are health-related.
The inspector allegedly saw three employees and one customer not wearing COVID masks inside the dealership. She issued a ticket for two violations: failing to comply with the commissioner of health’s mask order and failing to comply with BACP’s order to comply with the commissioner of health’s mask order.
Perillo received another ticket for “storing, receiving, possessing, selling nineteen bottles of liquor. One whiskey, champagnes, wine, etc.” The fourth ticket alleges two violations: failure to display an incidental consumption liquor license and failure to have a required liquor license.
Why am I mentioning this?
One, it’s a sign of the times. I see not only an elected official once more making excuses for real property crimes, but also class war.
Two, again, get the hell away from cities. COVID may end but this will not. It will only escalate. I don’t believe telling you all to get out of cities is a fool’s errand. This email will go out to 2,000 people. All of you won’t, but some will. I get emails every week from people doing it. Please, thinking this is going to improve without a massive awakening by the population - which cannot be foreseen - is folly.
Abandon ship!
I got out. Not like, way way far out, but there is a river, a suburb, and several solid miles of rural (and armed) country between me and the major city I'm close to. That is not an accident.
