I no longer like to point out the hypocrisy of the Left because it’s just preaching to the choir. But sometimes it’s so egregious that you have to.
When I point out that the overwhelming majority of my allies are on the Right (everyday people, civilians, very few politicians) it’s inevitable that someone will chime in with a criticism of the Right that belongs in 2005. I get it, you’re an anarchist/voluntaryist/blahblahblah and you don’t pay attention to the world around you anymore. Great. But you’re wrong.
I normally don’t pay attention to celebrities, especially actors, other than to ridicule them, but the combination of this Ukraine/Russia madness, and the immediacy in which messages can be sent out through social media makes it hard to ignore when celebs have lost their minds. Exhibit A is Edward Norton:
Paging Senator McCarthy (who did nothing wrong)! There’s so much that we could hit on here but the obvious is that he is literally calling on a government that he claims has been corrupted by Vladimir Putin - who has to be the most powerful man to ever live - to investigate itself. Seriously, a guy who is president of a country that has an economy smaller than the state of New York being able to wield so much power has to raise him above the level of Alexander when it comes to historical leaders. I’m sorry but Norton sounds like he was handed a script by NATO and he just typed it on Twitter.
Then there’s this obvious CIA asset:
Does anyone actually believe any of that? No matter what you feel for the Ukrainian people, he’s talking about the president of a puppet regime of the United States who recently, when asked a question in a press conference, said he had to consult president Biden on that.
And just to put a cherry on top, this is one of your betters. And she is upset people are calling her out for her “mistake”:
You are better than these people. Never forget that. We will win.
Norton's tweets seem more than just a script; it's so over the top looney tunes that it seems like it could be his way of stealthily signaling that he is indeed being blackmailed. Maybe a stretch but that's what I'd do.
I genuinely haven't come to grips with why these people are so obsessed with Russia. It seems ideologically inconsistent for them to be opposed to traditionally leftist, authoritarian regime.
Also, they have so much compassion (virtue-signalling) for people in a distant country and seemingly so little for their neighbors living under the covid regime.
