… and I understand why. The last 16-17 months have taken a toll on me mentally. No, I was never locked down although not being able to eat at restaurants for a while was upsetting as I like to dine out. What did affect me was watching people just roll over and take everything that not only the State was doing to them when it came to COVID-hysteria, but how people also backed down from neighbors who turned into COVID-Karens and COVID-Kyles. THAT made me re-think just about everything.
Up until then I thought there was a chance that in my lifetime 5-8% of people would get on board with drastically reducing the size and reach of the federal government. Now, I no longer believe that’s possible… using the same tactics as before. Society has proven that it wants to be told what to do when it comes to pretty much every single action in their lives. And libertarians are the people “diligently plotting to take over the world and leave you alone.” Barf!
I’ve come to realize that any message about increases in individual liberty and contractions to government must be accompanied by an equally powerful message of personal responsibility. Does anyone reading this believe that the majority of the population wants to take responsibility for their lives? I don’t. Then maybe this message of personal liberty and responsibility needs be accompanied with a detailed plan on how to achieve that. I know, I know, we don’t tell people how to live their lives. However, if you don’t educate them someone else will, and that someone else will most likely be the State. Do you trust the State to actually help people with this goal?
I know what I’m proposing seems beyond the pale when it comes to libertarian orthodoxy and dogma but anyone who’s been paying as close attention as I have to the culture since the COVID-fuckery started should at least consider it. Sure, getting the message of liberty out there is important, but if it is not accompanied by the idea of personal responsibility it’s doomed to fail. Think about someone buying a 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat that has over 700 horsepower because it looks “cool,” but isn’t warned or even mentored on how to drive a vehicle that is most likely 650 horsepower at the wheels. It’s easy to see how operating that vehicle could be dangerous for not only the driver but also anyone in their path. Liberty is far more dangerous without responsibility. The question remains: who is going to teach people to handle their new toy. If not you, who?
there is not enough pushback around the globe. this is not only a US problem. Only an extreme polarized radicalization will get people to unify when they understand that the ultmate goal is to make a prison planet. But then.....it will be too late.
On the Karen's and Kyle's... There's a Kyle in my Freedom Cell and both of us are the biggest shit stirrers that ever walked the face of the earth. His Mormon family is always pissed at him for being so obnoxiously anti-state.
