There’s one aspect here that’s odd. A SCOTUS decision has never been leaked before. This can only happen one way but I assume it will be blamed on a clerk who is ideological. That will be bullshit. If the leaker ever becomes an issue, know that a justice released it and the clerk is the scapegoat. The argument can be made that there are activists on both sides of the court, which makes the court just another tent in this clown show (albeit a huge one), but the most obvious ones are in the pro-abortion, trans-rights, etc., tent.
Will Roe be struck down? I hope so. I don’t talk about this a lot but I am a dork when it comes to SCOTUS decisions. I’ve read at least one-hundred (Mostly from the New Deal era). I know that isn’t a lot compared to some but for the average onlooker it gives you a peek into how they normally operate. Reading the dissents is also vital. What I know about Roe is that the argument was made around the 4th amendment. I’m not going to get into it but a quick explanation is on the Roe Wiki page. If you search you can find the decision itself and many articles criticizing it. Taking into account judicial norms, it’s just bad law. So yeah, if they do jettison it, goodbye. Sorry, I’m a Common Law dork and the ruling was just retarded.
What happens if Roe IS struck down? Abortion laws will go to the individual states. California can have abortion up to the 28th day of life and Alabama can outlaw it. Much like what we saw with COVID, people will start practicing Federalism again. It’s a step in the right direction for people who hate the “14th Amendment State”.
What will it accomplish long-term? It can only further divide the American people down partisan lines. Many see this as a negative. I do not. We can no longer share a polity with people who advocate for abortion on demand, want kindergarten teachers or other “experts” to decide what gender your child identifies as, and ones who demand you have a needle stuck into your arm with an experimental fluid. The best way to avoid war is to get as far away from your enemy as possible and make sure they have no say in your life. Or, to completely destroy them. As someone who doesn’t want to see a civil war, I pray for the former. But, as someone who sees their very existence as an abomination, I hold out the latter as a justifiable option.
Can you clarify 28th day of life? That’s before the birth...?
Everyday I’m thinking about getting as far away from the people who’d like to control my life in a way I cannot value or agree with. Anxious to leave where I am and go to a more like-minded community.
Well. Said!
