I was right from the beginning. Now it should be clear to you that federalism and localism, is in fact, alive and well. It’s been asked but would you have rather lived in Florida or California the last two years? Only someone living in “Ancapistan in their head” refuses to answer that question or answers it, “they’re both slave states!” There’s no arguing that there are sections of this country in which people and businesses went untouched by COVID lockdown and mask policies. Sure, supply was disrupted and people went without some products and still do (I heard yesterday that a Kroger in Atlanta had no chicken at all in the produce section), but the personal indignities that so many were subject to didn’t exist. This of course continues in those areas but will be spreading out now that the COVID narrative is flipping. They have their test case and will be moving on to the next “pandemic”. It only cost them several hundred thousand lives but hey, that’s still less than The Civil War (time will tell).
As we watch more and more areas drop COVID restrictions there will be certain locales that will never abandon them completely. New York City, specifically Manhattan, is one where not only has the government bought in full, but many of the people have as well. We are told “Twitter is not real life,” but many of the Twitterati infest that island. Knowing it’s an island gives you ideas, doesn’t it? Believing Washington DC will relent from the madness is folly as well.
The fact is that the majority of people are sick of this and most are probably still wearing their face diaper to placate their neighbors… who are wearing theirs to placate them. Just talk people! I live in a neighborhood that is mostly people in the COVID-danger age range and no one is wearing masks when interacting. And no one had died of COVID since this began. This is over when we say it is.
The answer is localism. It’s been the solution all along and COVID has proven it to many of us. It is the way forward and it is how liberty grows. It’s how COVID-tyranny was solved for many, and it’s the way through the next manufactured crisis. It’s the answer, embrace it! If you’re still in one of those places where you know it’s not going to go away, plan your exit. I know that’s easy for me to say, especially if you’d be leaving family behind, but it’s what must be done.
Don't discount your actions. You followed your own advice and moved.
I'm one of those lucky people living in a small-ish town that (for the most part) has ignored the Covidian insanity. Things are still pretty good around here. The economy has been BOOMING the past two years, despite (actually, as a result of) attempts to shame us for not locking down. As Ron Paul used to say, "freedom is popular" (not so popular as I would like, we now know, but for some people it obviously still matters), and we've had a huge influx of people fleeing from tyrannical cities and states. This presents the next issue. Are they coming to enjoy our quieter, freer, more self-reliant mindset, or coming to turn us into another shit-hole like the ones they've escaped? It's definitely creeping in, but there are some of us working to preserve our preferred way of life. Not that this is a new concern, but it's a relevant and significant part of the localism equation that presents its own challenges.
I’m in Georgia and my friends and I have seen a almost disappearance of certain things like chicken. What’s more scary my wife is a nurse and there is a blood shortage.
