The day after I got back from Porcfest in New Hampshire my muscles started to ache and I became weak. That was a Sunday. The next two days (Monday and Tuesday) I was in and out of bed with the same symptoms but multiplied a bit. On Wednesday and Thursday I felt well enough to have a beer before bed. Then came Friday.
Friday I was down for the count. While the muscle aches had gone away and I was not suffering from a sore throat like many others who contracted this at Porcfest, I developed a low grade fever and was hit with intense lethargy. However, that wasn’t the worst of it. The accompanying “brainfog” was so bad I could barely stand up for more than 5 minutes at a time. It was now 6 days after I got back from Porcfest.
On the 7th day when I lost taste and smell I pretty much knew what it was that was ailing me. On the 12th day my breathing became labored. That’s when the panic set in so I rung up a friend for some “supplements.” On the advice of another couple of great friends, I tracked down a nebulizer. Using a mixture of distilled water and food grade hydrogen peroxide (I won’t mention the ratio here) I strapped a mask to my face and began mouth and nose breathing the mist coming out of the nebulizer. Within a few days my breathing was back to normal and I forced myself to start walking and going outdoors. At this point I was about 17 days in and the only lingering effects were lethargy and slight, slight brainfog (it’s one of the reasons my writing has been sporadic).
Now, 23 days later, I am still experiencing slight episodes of brainfog. I could probably make it all the way through the day without laying down for 30-60 minutes if I were back to eating my normal regiment of food. Oh yeah, that’s another thing; lack of appetite. My stomach has visually shrunk, but I’ve been craving carbs when I do eat and that’s not good for me. I look forward to getting back to my protein rich diet.
If you come down with this my advice is to take it seriously. The scariest part for me was obviously the labored breathing. It was pretty bad but I never struggled. I’ve had much worse flus/colds in the past, but with everything in the press about the issue with people’s lungs, I decided to attack this head on and I had faith in the steps I was taking to treat it. Again, I am not giving medical advice, but should you get sick, research and take what precautions make you comfortable. Be safe and be well. I love you all.
BTW - I’ve lost a bunch of income through this so to all of the paid subscribers I just want to say, thank you! If you wish to help me recoup some losses here’s my Paypal. Or there are many ways to support me here.
Thank you!
Pete
Glad you’re feeling better. Try adding some adaptogens to your diet. It may help with energy levels and brainfog. Hope you continue recovering and can get back to normal soon. Keeping you in my thoughts😊
Prayers for continued speedy recovery. We nebulized colloidal silver for the 'itis last year and it also worked very well. Every home should have a nebulizer on hand.
