For those unaware, Anita Bryant was a American singer who had four Top-40 hits in the late 50s and early 60s. While she was a Miami resident “Dade County, Florida, passed an ordinance sponsored by Bryant's former friend Ruth Shack that prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.” That was in 1977. Bryant, the face of the Florida orange industry at the time, protested the ordinance stating:
What these people really want, hidden behind obscure legal phrases, is the legal right to propose to our children that theirs is an acceptable alternate way of life. ... I will lead such a crusade to stop it as this country has not seen before.
I know, I know, our delicate sensibilities immediately recoil (due to Leftist indoctrination) at the language, AND at the idea of denying certain people their rights because of what they believe. BUT, did they not already have rights? What percentage of gay people were discriminated against? Knowing my Miami history, I would say it was an incident or two. But that is all radical left activists need to push their agenda. They may even stage something (This is MAGA Country!!)
Forty-five years later we’ve gotten a look at how the Left plays the long game. I wrote this Substack article which included the video of an openly gay, male kindergarten teacher who was upset he couldn’t talk to 4- and 5-year-olds about his “lifestyle.” Yeah, fuck off with that! And this one about how insane it makes them that they lost. Up your meds! This lunacy can be defeated but, and I know this sounds overly simplistic, people have to want to defeat them. And there are too many paying lip service to this war while blithely going about their lives.
I don't have the power of God nor do I want it. I just want the power to chart my own destiny and to preserve a sane world for the future. Anyone who disagrees with that has just entered into my friend/enemy distinction paradigm. Ms. Bryant was correct in 1977. And for being right she paid the price as an early victim of “cancel culture.” It was never about equality as we have seen from the reaction to the Parents Rights in Education bill in Florida. Their agenda was always about domination, not only normalization.
As I’ve said many times, I encourage people to take their kids out of schools as a temporary measure. But those schools will continue to churn out the enemy and therefore must be changed. We love to make fun of the Constitution as a piece of paper that doesn’t protect rights but maybe there’s a line in there we need to adopt. A line that we need to put into practice if we don’t want to be ‘living in a pod and eating the bugs” in 2030. We are to “secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” That demands action and the casting aside of bad ideas even if by force. “Live and let live” is what has brought us here. It’s an anachronism at this stage. Cast it into the fire where it belongs.
The slippery slope isn’t real says all the people who want you to dive at 100mph down a slope that is…slippery
