I’m still in the process of moving so I’m busy as can be but I received a message through Twitter and wanted to share it. These are the kind of communications that keep me going.
Hi Pete Just a quick thank you note. I have listened to you for around 3 years now and the strategies you favour and employ to make changes on the local level have really impacted my thoughts on how to go about things.
I am currently battling my sons school over some changes that I am deeply unhappy about and before hearing your thoughts, I would never think to cite legislation that I would tear up if given half a chance to force them to bend to my will out of betrayal of my anarchist principles.
You have shown me that these people will not leave us alone and must be defeated and if I have to not be the purest libertarian to do it, then so be it.
We will win!
A great note from that listener. I can assure you that his sentiments are echoed my hundreds if not thousands (myself included). I owe you a debt as well for helping to pull me out of Ancapistan-in-my-head. "Soldier on, Pete. Soldier on!"
Good on you! There is no nonagression principle in a state of war. The whole point is that you should not *initiate* force. Force was already initiated, rendering the rest moot. Stick to your principles and end it; no means are prohibited to you to do so. The only questions on your mind should be about tactics and strategy: what is effective, not what is allowed. Your own principle allows you to do anything until the threat is ended. Stop feeling guilty about this. You never claimed to be a pacifist.
I wish more libertarians could figure this out. Just vomit up the gallons of glowing poison you swallowed and think clearly.
